Amilcar Cabral International Airport, also known as Sal International Airport and opened on December 15, 1939, is the main air terminal in Cape Verde. It operates with domestic and international flights to several destinations in Europe and Africa.

The airport is located 2 km (1.3 miles) to the south of the city of Espargos, in the island of Sal.See Map
.There are no car rental agencies within the airport. Booking in advance is recommended.
The airport has banks, currency exchange bureaus (24 hours a day) and free Wi-Fi access. The Safeport Business Aviation Lounge opens from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm and is located in a separate building outside the terminal; it provides a smoking area, TV, refreshments, showers, telephones, Wi-Fi, computers, air conditioning, drinks, conference facilities, fax (accessible with Priority Pass, DragonPass or Diners Club membership).
Food and Drinks- Two restaurants and a bar are available in the International Departures Hall.
Shopping- There are stores selling duty-free goods, souvenirs and handicrafts.

Bus - Shared minibuses, locally known as alugueres, depart to most hotels and tourist destinations in the area. Journey time to Espargos is about 5 minutes, 10 min. to Palmeira and 20 min. to Santa Maria.
Taxi - Ranks are located in front of the terminal. Travel time to the city centre is approximately 5 minutes.
There is a small parking lot for short- and long-term stays in front of the terminal building.
Passengers with reduced mobility should inform their airline about their needs at the time of their booking.
