Passengers with Special Needs or Reduced Mobility

Alicante Airport strives to provide an accessible experience for all passengers. The facilities are equipped with ramps, lifts, designated parking spaces, and adapted toilets for persons with reduced mobility (PRM).

Barrier-Free Assistance Service

Aena offers a free assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility or any other disability who require help to move through the facilities. This service must be requested at least 48 hours prior to the departure of your flight.

  • How to request it? When purchasing your ticket, through your airline or travel agency. You can also request it directly via Aena’s online platform or by phone.
  • Meeting points: The airport has signposted meeting points both outside (car parks, transport stops) and inside the terminal (check-in, security control) where assistance staff will attend to you.

Invisible Disabilities

The airport participates in the Sunflower Lanyard initiative (Hidden Disabilities Sunflower), designed to provide support to people with non-visible disabilities (such as autism, dementia, anxiety disorders, etc.).

By wearing the Sunflower Lanyard, staff are trained to recognise it and provide more understanding, extra patience, or specific assistance, acknowledging that the person may need more time or help without having to explain their condition.

This lanyard can be obtained at Aena’s information desks at the airport or through the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower organisation.

Unaccompanied Minors

Most airlines offer an escort service for unaccompanied minors, usually between 5 and 12 years old, from the check-in area to the destination airport. This service must be requested directly from the airline in advance and may incur an additional fee.

Recommendation: Contact the airline to find out its specific policies and requirements for unaccompanied minors.
