Cairo airport (CAI)

Cairo International Airport, opened on April 22, 1945, is the busiest in Egypt. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and North America.

Number of Terminals - 4 - Terminal 1 (Old Airport), Terminal 2 (New Airport), Terminal 3 and Seasonal Flights Terminal. Open 24 hours a day. The terminals are connected via a shuttle bus service and an automated people mover.

The airport is located 22 km (14 miles) northeast from the city of Cairo.

Public and private transportation

Bus

Cairo Airport Travel (Tel +20 219 970) provides a service departing every 30 minutes to the city centre (travel time: 45 min.), Heliopolis, Nasr, Giza, Mohandeseen, Zamalek, Maadi and Haram. Tickets can be purchased at the desks located in the Arrivals Hall of Terminals 1 and 3.
There are also public buses from CTA (Tel +20 223 425 712) to several destinations in Cairo (Elmounib, Tahrir, Shubra, Ramsis, Roxi, Al-Azhar) and other locations inside the country. They depart from the station in the parking lot in front of Terminal 1.

Taxi

Vehicles available outside the Arrivals Halls. Black and white cabs do not have meters, therefore it is recommended to agree on a price beforehand. Alternatively, white taxis have meters. A trip to the city centre takes around 30 minutes.

There are car rental counters in the Arrivals Hall of terminals 1, 2 and 3, open 24 hours a day.

Parking services at Cairo airport (CAI)

A total of nine parking areas are located next to Terminal 1, including VIP sectors and spaces for short- and long-term stays, and an additional parking lot in front of Terminal 3. Rates

Facilities for passengers with special needs

Facilities include ramps, adapted toilets, reserved parking spaces and special lanes through the control procedures. Wheelchairs are available by request. Passengers with special needs should contact their airline to ask for assistance.
