Rome–Ciampino International Airport "Giovanni Battista Pastine" (CIA), inaugurated in 1916, is one of the oldest airports still in operation and serves as the main alternative to Fiumicino Airport. Located a short distance from the city centre, it mainly specialises in low-cost flights connecting Rome with various destinations across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Terminals
The airport has a single passenger terminal that remains open to the public from 4:00 am until the departure of the last scheduled flight (approximately 11:00 pm). During overnight closure hours, only passengers holding a valid flight ticket for the following 24 hours are permitted to remain inside the building.

Information Points
You will find a general information desk located in the check-in area, operating between 5:00 am and 11:00 pm. In addition, a tourist information point (PIT) managed by the Municipality of Rome is located in the arrivals hall, available for enquiries about transport and city attractions from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The airport is located 15 km (9 miles) south-east of Rome city centre, just outside the Grande Raccordo Anulare (ring road).

The airport offers a range of essential services designed to meet passengers’ needs during their brief stay in the terminal. Most of these services are concentrated in the main hall and the boarding area.
Finance and Connectivity
In both the arrivals and departures areas you will find ATMs and currency exchange offices operated by Best and Fast Change. Travellers are also provided with free and unlimited Wi-Fi via the “Airport Free Wi-Fi” network, with no time restrictions.
Food and Beverage
The food and beverage offering includes cafés, bars and fast-food outlets. Notable options include Piadina, JuiceBar and Just Poke, located in both the public area and the boarding zone. Although there are no 24-hour services, most outlets operate from 5:00 am until the departure of the last flight.
Shopping and Duty Free
The boarding area hosts the Aelia Duty Free zone, where you can purchase tax-free perfumes, cosmetics, spirits and tobacco. There are also Italian fashion shops, WHSmith bookshops, a pharmacy, and stores selling souvenirs and typical regional food products.
Baggage Services
- Luggage Trolleys: Available in the car parks and in the arrivals area to facilitate the transport of your belongings.
- Baggage Wrapping: A luggage protection and wrapping service is available in the departures hall, near the check-in counters.

Other Services
The airport also features a first aid centre (Pronto Soccorso), nursing rooms for parents travelling with babies, a travel agency, and designated smoking areas within the boarding zone.
Parking services at Rome Ciampino airport (CIA)
The airport offers an official parking system known as Easy Parking, managed directly by the airport operator ADR. Several parking options are available just a few metres from the passenger terminal, allowing quick access without the need for additional transport services.
Short Stay Parking (P3)
Located next to the main access road, just 200 metres from the terminal building, this area is designed for quick drop-offs and pick-ups. The first 15 minutes of parking are free, making it ideal for leaving or collecting passengers.
Medium and Long Stay Parking (P4, P5, P6)
These areas are located directly in front of the terminal and are suitable for both business and leisure travel:
- P4, P5 and P6: Offer outdoor parking spaces in a prime location opposite the Departures and Arrivals entrances.
- The P5 and P6 areas also host car-sharing services and pick-up points for car rental agencies.
Budget Option (P7)
The P7 car park represents the airport’s low-cost option. Although it is slightly farther away than the others, it is still within walking distance of the terminal and offers reduced rates for passengers planning to leave their vehicle for several days.
Payment Methods and Reservations
Payment can be made at the automatic pay stations located inside the terminal (arrivals hall) and at the car park exit lanes. Cash, debit and credit cards are accepted. In addition, the airport provides dedicated lanes for the Telepass system, allowing automatic payment without the need for a physical ticket.
Recommendation: More competitive rates can be obtained by making an advance reservation through the official Easy Parking portal.

- Parking: Designated and clearly marked parking spaces for vehicles transporting passengers with disabilities, located directly in front of the terminal to allow immediate access.
Requesting Assistance
To ensure an efficient and timely service, it is essential to follow the prior notification protocol:
- Booking: You must contact the airline or travel agency at least 48 hours in advance of the flight departure to request the type of assistance required.
- Call Points: Upon arrival at the airport, you can activate the assistance service via the clearly marked intercoms located at terminal entrances and in designated parking areas.
- Meeting Point: You may also proceed directly to the ADR Assistance information desk inside the terminal to confirm your arrival and receive the necessary support.
