Borg El Arab International Airport, opened on 21 February 2010, serves the city of Alexandria and the surrounding areas of the Nile Delta. Since 2011, it replaced El Nouzha Airport, which was closed for renovations that were never completed. In addition to domestic flights, it connects to international destinations in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
