Hurghada airport (HRG)

Hurghada International Airport, opened on May, 1966, is the second busiest in the country, serving an international tourist destination. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations in Europe.

Hurghada airport is located 8 km (5 miles) to the south of the city of the same name.

Public and private transportation

Bus

A minibus service departs from outside the airport only when full. Destinations include downtown Hurghada, the resort area and other cities in the province, such as Safaga, Al Quseir, El Gouna, Sharm El Naga, Al-Mahmya, Soma Bay and Makadi Bay. Journey time to the city centre is about 20 minutes. There are no fixed stops, pick-up and drop-off are made on-demand.

Taxi

Official cabs are painted black and orange and are available 24 hours a day outside the Arrivals Halls. The trip to central Hurghada takes around 15 minutes. It is recommended to agree on a fare with the driver before departing.

The airport's parking lot is found opposite the terminals and has spaces for short stays, close to the main buildings, and long periods.

Facilities are basic, including ramps and wheelchairs, which must be requested in advance. Passengers with special needs should inform their airline before arriving.
