Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night inside the airport
Staying overnight inside an airport can be an uncomfortable experience, but sometimes it is necessary due to delayed flights, long layovers or a tight budget. If you decide to spend the night at Kunming airport, be sure to bring an inflatable pillow, a light blanket and earplugs to help you rest. Also remember to keep your personal belongings safe at all times.
Where to rest: There are no dedicated rest areas inside the terminal, so look for some reclining chairs, which are more comfortable. On the other hand, there are several VIP lounges available that offer more comfort if you are willing to pay or have a membership that allows you entry, although they do close at night. There are private booths on the first floor that you can book by the hour, and there is a range of accommodation nearby.
Eating and drinking: Shops may be closed at night, so it's best to be prepared with snacks and drinks beforehand.
Baggage: The airport offers left-luggage facilities on the third floor and B1 level, but only from 5:00 am to 0:00 am.
Wi-Fi: Free unlimited access.
Other services available 24 hours a day: ATMs, prayer rooms, nursing rooms, drinking fountains.
