Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area

Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.

Katowice Airport is a common option for overnight stays, especially for travellers with charter or low-cost flights scheduled early in the morning. The airport remains open 24 hours a day, is safe and well maintained, although comfort levels vary depending on the terminal and the area chosen.

Where to rest

The area most recommended by travellers is Terminal B. On the second level (upper floor), near the panoramic terrace, there are long metal benches and some flat surfaces that allow passengers to stretch out. The terrace is usually a quieter spot, although it can be somewhat cold due to the large windows, so bringing a blanket or warm clothing is advisable. On the ground floor of Terminals A and B there are also seats, but many have armrests that make horizontal rest difficult.

It is important to note that the lights remain on and public address announcements are made periodically, so the use of an eye mask and earplugs is highly recommended.

Luggage

Unfortunately, the airport currently does not offer a left luggage service or lockers for storing baggage. You will need to keep your belongings with you at all times, unless you choose to stay at the Moxy Katowice Airport, located directly opposite the terminals.

Food & Drink

Most food and beverage outlets close after the last flight (around 10:00 pm or 11:00 pm) and reopen at approximately 4:00 am. During the night, food options are limited, so it is advisable to purchase supplies in advance. However, snack and drink vending machines are available throughout all three terminals and operate 24 hours a day.

24-hour services

  • Cash machines: Available in public areas.
  • Information points: The main information desk usually remains staffed throughout the night for basic assistance.
  • Baby care facilities: Childcare rooms are accessible at all times.
  • Wi-Fi: The connection is free and unlimited, ideal for entertainment while waiting.

Hotels

Although there are no hotels physically located within the terminal buildings, Katowice Airport offers an excellent range of accommodation just a few metres away and in the nearby towns of Pyrzowice and Mierzecice. Most of these establishments provide complimentary shuttle services for their guests.

Accommodation Opposite the Airport

  • Moxy Katowice Airport: The only hotel located directly opposite the terminals, allowing passengers to reach the departure areas on foot in less than 2 minutes.

Nearby Hotels

  • Desilva Inn Katowice Airport: Offers a professional atmosphere ideal for business travellers, with a free 24-hour shuttle service.
  • ibis Styles Katowice Airport: Stands out for its modern and colourful design, providing a comfortable and functional stay just a few minutes from the airport.
  • Hotel Wilga by Katowice Airport: Provides traditional hospitality with a fast and efficient transfer service to the terminals.
  • Homies Inn: A quiet and affordable alternative, aimed at passengers seeking a more homely environment before their flight.
  • Zajazd Fakir: A low-cost option combining simple accommodation with traditional Polish cuisine dining services.
