Transfer to/from - Lisbon airport (LIS)
Public transportation services, licensed taxis and rideshare, private transfer companies and car rental services in Lisbon airport (LIS)
Transportation
Metro
The fastest and most efficient way to get to the city center is by using the metro. The "Aeroporto" station is located in Terminal 1 and is the first stop on the Red Line (Vermelha). This line takes you directly to the center of Lisbon (Saldanha station) in about 20 minutes and allows you to connect with other lines to reach any point in the city. The metro operates from 6:30 am to 1:00 am.
Buses
Aerobus
It is the official express bus service, ideal for tourists as it has space for luggage. It connects the airport with the main points in the city center, including the Sete Rios train station and the historic center (Praça do Comércio). You can buy the ticket online or directly from the driver.
Urban Buses (Carris)
These are the city's public buses. They are more economical but have a strict luggage size limit (maximum 50x40x20cm), so they are not recommended if you are traveling with large suitcases. The stops are located outside the arrivals area of Terminal 1.
Rent a Car
Transport Card (Viva Viagem)
To use the Metro and Carris urban buses, you will need to purchase the rechargeable "Viva Viagem" card. You can buy and top it up at the automatic machines in the airport metro station. It is a personal card, and each passenger needs their own.
Taxis
You will find a clearly marked taxi rank right outside the arrivals area of Terminal 1. For your safety, always use the vehicles from the official line. A trip to the city center usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Uber, Bolt and Cabify
These services operate at the airport. The designated passenger pickup area is located in P2 parking, in the Departures (Partidas) area. After requesting your ride, follow the "Transporte por App" signs or the instructions in the app itself to meet your driver.
Trains
The airport does not have its own train station. However, you can easily reach Lisbon's main train station, Gare do Oriente, by taking the Red Metro line from the airport (only 3 stops). From Gare do Oriente, long-distance trains (Alfa Pendular and Intercidades) depart to all of Portugal.
