Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.

Is it possible to spend the night at the airport?

Spending the night at Madrid airport is not so traumatic, as there are several services available 24 hours a day. Although there are hotels nearby, not all passengers are willing to pay for an overnight stay when their flight departs early in the morning. Although there are Air Rooms within the airport, dorms with a common living room for a few hours' sleep, these are paid. If your pockets are tight, you'll have to look for an alternative. Most importantly, the airport is open 24 hours a day.

Where to rest?

Terminal 1 is not very comfortable and does not have many seats available, except for a few cafeterias, while terminals 2, 3 and 4 have more space and benches, although not very comfortable. Some of these (mainly in the boarding areas) do not have armrests, and those are ideal for resting on two or three of them. If you find two or three together and unoccupied, don't hesitate and take them. Recliner chairs can be found next to gate 17 in Terminal 4S, while more comfortable padded benches are available near gate D62, though they are few in number.

Note that none of the terminals have areas with much privacy and the lights usually stay on, so it's best to have a sleeping mask. If you have to sleep on the floor, have a blanket, as the place is generally cold at night. Children's entertainment areas provide slightly more comfortable spaces. Another option (paying around €40.00 or with a membership) is to use one of the VIP lounges. Some of them are available 24 hours a day.

Is there a luggage storage service?

There are left-luggage offices in terminals 1, 2 and 4, but they are closed at night. The counter in Terminal 4 is in the Arrivals Hall, in Terminal 2 it is on floor 1, and in Terminal 1 it is in front of baggage hall 2.

Are there places to eat and drink 24 hours a day?

There are 24-hour options available in terminals 1, 2 and 4. In addition, there are vending machines for drinks, sandwiches and snacks in all terminals.

Are showers available at Madrid airport?

Showers are only available inside the VIP areas and the Air Rooms.

Does Madrid airport have free Wi-Fi?

The airport has a free and unlimited service and several access points in different areas of the terminals. There are also sockets for electrical devices and spaces with desks for working.

Other services available around the clock

ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, petrol stations, children's play areas, breastfeeding areas, medical services and convenience stores.
