Macau International Airport, opened on 9 November 1995, is one of the most important in China. As it is within an administrative region, immigration procedures are required for flights between mainland China and Macau. It serves as the air connection hub between China and Taiwan. Additionally, it operates flights to major destinations in the Far East and Southeast Asia.

There are information counters on the Arrivals and Departures levels, as well as a tourist office on the ground floor.
The airport is located 3 km (1.8 miles) south of Macau city centre, on an air-island connected by road to the mainland part, at the eastern end of Taipa Island.

The facility has two open-air car parks located on either side of the terminal (Car Park North and Car Park South).
