Ride-sharing
Users can request a ride through the
Uber app and be picked up by a driver in an area designated for private passenger transport. However, at some airports, specific rules and regulations may affect how this works. It is advisable to check the app for up-to-date and specific information on how this service works at Newcastle airport.
Bus
Lines X77, X78 and X79 from
Stagecoach (Tel +44 345 241 8000) connect Newcastle with Ponteland and Darras Hall, and also travel to Cowgate, Kingston Park and Eldon Square station (£2.00), in the city centre, in about 30 minutes. They operate Monday to Saturday between 6:27 am and 11:27 pm and Sundays from 10:12 am to 11:27 pm and stop near the airport, on highway B6918.
Metro
The site is served by a
Tyne and Wear Metro station (Tel +44 191 202 0747), which provides transport to the cities of Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside. The journey to the city centre (Haymarket, Monument, Central Station) takes around 25 minutes, departing every 12 min. from 5:39 am (6:26 am on Sundays) until 11:09 pm. The journey to Sunderland station takes about 55 min., on a service operating from 5:39 am to 10:54 pm. Tickets between £2.60 and £4.30.
Train
The metro system connects the airport to the
National Rail (Tel +44 345 748 4950) and
TransPennine Express (Tel +44 345 600 1671) network in the northeast of the country from the city's central station. Trains run from there to destinations including Birmingham, Darlington, Durham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hartlepool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Middlesbrough and York.
Taxi
The exclusive site operator is
Arrow Cars (Tel +44 191 244 9966), with vehicles 24 hours a day in front of the terminal. There is a company desk near the Domestic Arrivals area. Travel time to the city centre is 15-30 minutes and the fare is around £17.00-21.00.
