Passenger Guide

Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), opened at its current location in 1952, is a key infrastructure asset for Pennsylvania and the broader region. Renowned for its innovative split-terminal design (Landside/Airside), it operates a dense network of domestic flights and international connections to strategic destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, and North America.

Terminal
At present, the airport operates with two main buildings: the Landside Terminal (check-in and security) and the Airside Terminal (departure gates). They are connected by an automated underground train (people mover). The Airside Terminal is divided into four concourses: Concourse A, B, C, and D.
Important Note: The airport is completing a major modernization program. A new consolidated terminal—bringing all processes under one roof and eliminating the need for the train—is expected to open in late 2025.
Annual Passenger Traffic: 9.95 million passengers in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
Information Points
Travelers can get assistance at information desks located in the Landside Terminal (before security) and in the central core of the Airside Terminal (after security). The airport also provides customer service staff and courtesy telephones for inquiries.
Location
The airport is located in Findlay and Moon townships, 10 miles (15 km) northwest of downtown Pittsburgh.
