Shanghai Pudong International Airport, opened on 1st October 1999 to handle international traffic previously managed by Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, is the most modern and the third busiest airport in the country, as well as one of the most important in Asia. It operates domestic and international flights worldwide.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Open 24 hours a day. A shuttle bus service operates between the buildings from 6:00 am to 0:00 am, with 10-minute intervals.

Information counters are available from 6:00 am to 0:00 am next to Gate 7 and in front of Gate 8 of Terminal 1, in the Arrivals and Departure areas of the satellite building, and in the Arrivals Hall and next to Gate 25 of Terminal 2.

Tourist offices are located between Gates 6 and 7 of Terminal 1 and in the International Arrivals Hall of Terminal 2, open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

A 24-hour service centre is located in front of Exit 2A in the International Arrivals Hall of Terminal 2.

The airport is located 30 km (19 miles) southeast of Shanghai's financial centre, on the eastern side of the Pudong district.

Facilities for passengers with special needs

Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs should inform their airline or the airport staff (Tel +86 21 96990) about their specific needs before travelling. The terminals are equipped with lifts and ramps, adapted restrooms, and accessible telephones. Electric vehicles are available for passenger transport in the restricted area of Terminal 2 from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm.
