Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF), opened for commercial flights in 1947, is a vital dual-purpose facility. In addition to being Kentucky’s primary passenger airport, it is UPS’s global air hub (“Worldport”), making it one of the busiest cargo airports in the world. It serves the metropolitan area with a strong network of domestic flights.

Terminal
The airport has a single passenger terminal, officially named the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal. Boarding is organized through two concourses: Concourse A and Concourse B. The terminal does not operate 24/7—it opens early in the morning and closes after the last departure.
Annual Passenger Traffic: 4.6 million passengers in 2024, setting an all-time record for the second consecutive year.
Information Desks
On the lower level (arrivals), in the baggage claim area, there is a Visitor Information desk. In addition, the airport has a team of volunteers who assist travelers throughout the terminal.

The airport has ATMs, bank (Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm), mailbox, plugs for electric devices, public telephones and complimentary Wi-Fi access. On the upper level, behind the ticket counters, there is an exclusive lounge for the military and their families (Fort Knox Reception Area), open Mondays through Fridays between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm and weekends from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with free Wi-Fi, beverages and snacks.

Route 2 from Transit Authority of River City (TARC) (Tel +1 502 585 1234) runs to the city centre in approximately 30 minutes, between 5:52 am and 9:52 pm (from 6:52 am on weekends and holidays). The fare is USD1.75 and stops include Crittenden, Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, the University of Louisville, Kentucky Kingdom and JB Speed Art Museum.
