Sleeping inside or in nearby hotels (TRD)
Possibility to spend the night at Trondheim airport (TRD), if open 24 hours. Services available, places to rest (free resting zones), or look for the list of nearby hotels and vip lounges.
Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Spending the night at Trondheim Airport is a possible option for travellers with very early flights or overnight connections. While the boarding area (airside) closes after the departure of the last flight, the public area (landside) of the arrivals hall and the check-in area remain open and accessible 24 hours a day.
Where to rest
Most of the seating available in the terminal is fitted with armrests, making it difficult to lie down. However, travellers often recommend the area near the integrated railway station, as it is quieter and features wooden floors that are less cold than the rest of the terminal if you decide to use a sleeping bag or mat. There are also a few padded benches in the café area of the departures hall before security screening.
Tip: Due to the Norwegian climate, the terminal can become quite cold during the early hours of the morning. It is advisable to bring blankets or warm clothing, even if you plan to sleep on the seats.
Food and 24-hour services
There are no food and beverage outlets operating 24 hours a day. Cafés and kiosks close shortly after the last flight and reopen early in the morning. It is recommended to purchase supplies before closing time or bring your own food. Cash machines and baby-changing facilities are available at all times.
Luggage and security
Storage: At present, there are no lockers or left luggage services, so you will need to keep an eye on your bags during your stay.
Security: The airport is safe and has regular security patrols. Security staff may ask to see your passport or flight itinerary during the night.
Connectivity
Free Wi-Fi is available for 4 hours. If you require a more stable or extended connection overnight, you can reconnect once the time limit has expired.
Hotel alternative
If you prefer a proper bed and privacy, the Radisson Blu Hotel is physically connected to the terminal and offers 24-hour reception, making it the most immediate option without the need for outdoor transfers.
Booking accommodation
Hotels
The airport offers a privileged selection of accommodation for travellers, highlighted by a hotel located just a few steps from the terminal and other quality options in the nearby town of Stjørdal, most of which are connected by public transport or short taxi journeys.
