Xi'an Xianyang Airport (XIY)

Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, opened on 1 September 1991, is the main airport of the city of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, and the most important in the northwest region of China. It operates numerous domestic flights and some international routes to countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Number of Terminals - 4 - Terminal 1 (currently closed), Terminal 2 (domestic flights), Terminal 3 (international and domestic flights), Terminal 5 (international flights). Open 24 hours a day. Terminals 2, 3, and 5 are connected by free shuttle buses operating every 15 minutes between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm.

There are information counters in front of Gate 222 in Terminal 2 and in front of Gate 324 in Terminal 3, available from 4:00 am until half an hour after the last flight.

The airport is located 13 km (8.1 miles) northeast of the city of Xianyang and 25 km (16 miles) northwest of Xi'an.

In car park P4, opposite the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 3, there are Avis (Tel +86 400 001 3600) and Hertz (Tel +86 134 8440 7335) offices operating 24 hours a day.

Note that you cannot drive in China without a Chinese driving licence. An alternative is to hire a car with a driver.
