Kelowna International Airport, opened in 1947, is one of the busiest in Canada. It serves the province of British Columbia and operates with domestic and international flights to the United States, Mexico and Cuba.

The airport is located 11 km (7 miles) to the northeast of the city of Kelowna.

What services does Kelowna airport (YLW) facilities include

The airport has ATMs, mailbox, workstations, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. There is also a business centre with a meeting room in the Departures area.

Food and Drinks- Restaurants, coffee shops and vending machines before and after the security checkpoint.
Shopping- Duty-free goods in the Departures area, souvenirs, electronics, wines, newspapers and magazines.
Baggage- Free trolleys in the Arrivals area, opposite the Departures entrance and the parking lots. Lost and found office next to the baggage reclaim hall, from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm (Tel +1 250 807 4300 ext. 4).
Other Services- Drinking fountains, first aid clinic, shoeshine, smoking shelters, kid's playroom, art gallery.

 

Public and private transportation

Bus - Line 23 Lake Country from Kelowna Regional Transit (Tel +1 250 860 8121) has a frequency of 15 minutes during peak hours and operates on weekdays from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. It runs to Berry Transit Exchange and Lakewood Park Mall and reaches UBC Okanagan, where you can transfer to routes 8 University and 97 Rapidbus, heading to Kelowna and West Kelowna, or line 6, which goes to Glenmore. Stops are located on the airport road, next to the car rental lot, and on highway 97.
Ebus (Tel +1 877 769 3287) offers services within Okanagan (Kamloops, Vernon, Merritt) and Lower Mainland.
There are also shuttle services outside the south terminal entrance that travel to different destinations: Let's Go Transportation (Tel +1 778 821 0101) to Kelowna, Vernon and South Okanagan; Kelowna Shuttle (Tel +1 250 762 2222 / 800 375 9848) to Revelstoke and Summerland; Elite Mile (Tel +1 250 869 7031) to Sparkling Hill Resort and Predator Ridge Resort; Kelowna Concierge Airport Shuttle (Tel +1 250 863 4213) to different hotels throughout Kelowna.

Taxi - You can board cabs outside the passenger terminal. Licensed companies are Apple Cabs (Tel +1 250 451 9560), Checkmate Cabs (Tel +1 250 861 1111), Current Taxi (Tel +1 250 864 8294), Kelowna Cabs (Tel +1 250 762 2222), Lake Country Taxi (Tel +1 250 766 4440), Star Taxi (Tel +1 250 807 1111) and West Cabs (Tel +1 778 754 8888). The trip to the city centre takes around 20 minutes.

Parking services at Kelowna airport (YLW)

Car parks with security staff and valet parking service at the south end of the terminal (Tel +1 778 753 3735). Short-term Lot - Located in front of the terminal.
Long-term Lot - Situated at the side of the main building, with free shuttle service.
Cellphone Waiting Area - Free passenger pick-up lot next to Airport Plaza, with charging stations for electric vehicles.

Facilities for passengers with special needs

Inside the enclosure, there are automatic doors, reserved parking spaces, adapted toilets and telephones, an ambulift to board and disembark from the aeroplane, elevators, ramps and relieving areas for service animals. Transportation companies have vehicles for different needs. You can request an escort service and wheelchairs in advance.
