Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
Addis Ababa Airport is very busy and disorganized, with constant activity even during the night. Bring earplugs or headphones to block out the noise. The lack of signs and limited assistance from airport staff can make navigating the premises challenging.
Where to rest: There are few seats inside the terminals, but you can find some recliner chairs, so grab one as soon as possible. Another option is to access one of the VIP lounges, some of which are open 24 hours a day. If you prefer a hotel, there is one located in Terminal 2 and several more nearby. Some hotels offer shuttle services if booked in advance.
Baggage: The airport does not provide luggage storage services, so you will need to stay with your bags until you can check in.
Eating and drinking: There are a few options open overnight in the international area of the airport.
Wi-Fi: Free access.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, baby changing facilities.
