Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
Düsseldorf Airport handles many flights and connections. While the public area of the terminal remains open 24 hours and is usually quiet at night, note that the secure area of the piers closes at night (around 10:00 pm), so you will have to stay in the Arrivals Hall once security control shuts.
Where to rest: There are only armrest-free seats in the boarding area. In the public area, comfortable benches can be found in some cafés. You may also use one of the VIP lounges, which offer greater comfort and privacy, although they close at night. Alternatively, there are two hotels next to the airport, and several nearby accommodations offer shuttle services.
Baggage: The left-luggage service only operates from 6:00 am to 10:45 pm. This means you will need to stay with your bags until check-in.
Eating and drinking: There are only three fast food options open 24 hours a day within the terminal.
Restrooms: Showers are available only in the VIP lounges.
Wi-Fi: Free access.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, baby care facilities, meditation room, children's play areas.
