Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
Düsseldorf airport operates many flights and connections. Although the terminals are open 24 hours a day, the airport is usually quiet at night. However, passengers must remain in the public area once the security checkpoint closes.
Where to rest: There are only seats without armrests in the boarding area. Comfortable benches can be found in the public area in some cafeterias. You can also use one of the VIP lounges, which offer more comfort and privacy, although they close at night. There are two hotels adjacent to the airport, and some accommodation in the surrounding area offers shuttle services.
Baggage: The left-luggage service only operates between 5:15 am and 11:00 pm. This means you will need to remain with your bags until check-in.
Eating and drinking: Three options open 24 hours a day.
Restrooms: Showers available only inside the VIP lounges.
Wi-Fi: Free access.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, baby changing areas, meditation room, children's play areas.
