Phuket International Airport, opened on 1 June 1939, is the third busiest in Thailand. Its growing traffic is largely due to international tourism to the island of Phuket, in the south of the country. It operates domestic flights and routes to international destinations in Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, and some European locations.

There are lifts, adapted toilets and telephones, as well as reserved parking spaces. Children aged between 8 and 11 travelling alone will be escorted through the necessary procedures by airline staff.
