Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area

Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.

Is it possible to stay overnight at the airport?

For those passengers whose flight has been delayed or rescheduled, or who have a connecting or early morning departure flight, the airport terminals are open 24 hours a day. However, some locations of the boarding area close in the early morning, so if you wish to spend the night here, be sure to leave or enter the appropriate area before closing time. It is suggested to have an eye mask and earplugs handy, since inside the enclosure there is a lot of movement even at night and it tends to become quite noisy. In the case of flights cancelled due to adverse weather, the airport staff will be able to provide you with a cot to sleep on.

Where to rest?

According to user comments, there are no comfortable chairs to sleep on, as they all have armrests. Therefore, the best option is to lie down on the floor. For this, it is advisable to have blankets or a sleeping bag, as the place is usually cold. The carpeted floor in the North Terminal seems to be the most comfortable. On the other hand, in the baggage claim area of the South Terminal and in Concourse D there are some slightly more comfortable armchairs. Another option (either for a fee or with a credit card that provides the service) is to use one of the VIP lounges, where you can access more comfort and privacy. The Turkish Airlines Lounge in the South Terminal is open 24 hours a day, but the rest are closed at night. If you want to sleep uninterrupted, there are several hotels nearby, and the Miami International Airport Hotel is located in the Central Terminal, with half-day rooms available.

Is there luggage storage?

There is a left-luggage service available from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm on level 2 of Concourse E, so if you haven't checked in yet, you'll have to spend the night looking after your bags.

Are there places to eat and drink 24 hours a day?

Dunkin' Donuts (Concourse F) and Subway (Concourse E) are open 24 hours a day. All other food outlets close around 10:00-11:00 pm and open at 5:00 am.

Are showers available at Miami Airport?

Showers are available inside some of the VIP lounges.

Other services available around the clock:

ATMs, baby changing facilities, children's play area.
