Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
O'Hare Airport is a very busy place with numerous flights and connections, so there is constant movement. It is recommended to have a sleeping bag, blankets, an eye mask, and earplugs. If your flight is cancelled, airport staff may provide you with a cot for sleeping.
Where to rest: Most of the terminal seating is not very comfortable, although you will find some padded benches in the concourses and near the security checkpoint in Concourse B and Terminal 5. There are especially comfortable lounge chairs near gates B1 and B7, which are also relatively quiet at night, and near gate G11. All terminals have VIP lounges for passengers with a higher budget or eligible access. Additionally, there is a hotel located across from Terminal 2.
Baggage: There are no luggage storage offices inside this airport, but if your bags are small, you can leave them in the lockers at the gym located inside the on-site hotel. However, you must purchase a day membership to use the facility.
Eating and drinking: There are several options open overnight and vending machines throughout the terminal, although prices tend to be high.
Restrooms: Showers are only available in the
Admirals Club lounges.
Wi-Fi: Free and unlimited.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, retail stores, nursing areas, children's play area.
