Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
Kuala Lumpur Airport handles many flights and connections, so there is usually constant movement, even during the night. Earplugs are recommended for a good rest. The place can get quite cold, so keep a jacket handy.
Where to rest: Although many seats and carpeted areas can be found throughout the premises, the main terminal has more comfortable options, especially near Gate 10 and Gates P and Q in the Satellite Building. The food court on the second floor is a particularly quiet spot, as is Level 4. There are various VIP lounges inside the airport, some open 24 hours. However, note that most have a maximum stay limit. Additionally, there are transit hotels in both terminals, sleeping capsules, and lounges with rest units, as well as accommodation options connected to the airport via walkways or shuttle buses.
Baggage: 24-hour luggage storage available in Terminal 1.
Eating and drinking: There are options open overnight in both terminals.
Restrooms: In addition to those in the VIP lounges, free showers are available on levels 2 and 3 of Terminal 2 and on the second floor of the Satellite Building.
Wi-Fi: Free and unlimited.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, convenience stores and duty-free shops, baby care facilities, children’s play areas.
