Car-sharing

You can find the providers' cars on level 0 of car park P3. It can be reached via a short covered underground passage. Service provided by Free2Move (Tel +43 1267 7111).

Train

The rapid transit train (Vienna S-Bahn) is an economical way to travel between the city centre and the airport. Line S7 stops include Laa an der Thaya, Wien Floridsdorf, Wien Rennweg and Wien Kaiserebersdorf. The journey time to Vienna Central Station is 15 minutes and to Wien Mitte is 25 minutes. Trains depart every 30 min.

Fare: from €4.10 (to/from Wien Mitte or Wien Hauptbahnhof, including travel throughout Vienna’s public transport network).

The Railjet express train service connects the airport with Vienna Central Station in 15 min. and offers long-distance travel to cities within Austria and neighbouring countries (St. Pölten, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz, Klagenfurt, Brno, Prague, Györ, Budapest).

The ÖBB counter (Tel +43 5 1717) and ticket machines are located in the Arrivals Hall. Covered walkways lead directly to the airport platforms.

Additionally, the City Airport Train (Tel +43 1 25 250) connects the airport with the city centre in 16 min., from 6:07 am to 11:37 pm, every 30 min. The fare is €14.90. A ticket and information desk is available in the Arrivals Hall.

Regional Buses

Vienna Airport Lines (Tel +43 5 1717) connects the airport with Vienna’s main transport hubs. Its routes serve all metro lines. Buses to the airport run every 30 minutes from Wien Westbahnhof and Wien Hauptbahnhof. Buses to the city centre (Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz) operate 24 hours a day, and the journey takes around 20 min. Fares from €11.00.

International Buses

Gepard Express (Tel +420 530 000 053), FlixBus (Tel +43 800 802 557), Slovak Lines (Tel +421 2 55 422 734), and RegioJet (Tel +420 222 222 221) offer services to several European cities, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Bologna, Padua, Pula, Rijeka, Zagreb, Krakow, Warsaw, Timisoara, Bratislava, Zilina, Brno, Prague, Ostrava, and Budapest.

Taxi

Vehicles are available outside the main Arrivals Hall. The journey to central Vienna takes around 20 minutes and costs approximately €42.00. Official operators include Airport Driver (Tel +43 1 22822), Airport Transfer Service (Tel +43 1 7007 35905), Flughafentaxi (Tel +43 1 7007 33141), and Taxi 40100 (Tel +43 1 40100). Only use the taxi rank directly in front of the Arrivals Hall or the "City Transfer" desk. If someone approaches you offering a taxi service, it is best not to use it. This is an illegal business often run by individuals without the required commercial licence.

Transportation Tips to/from the airport

Although there are issues that seem more than obvious, it is always advisable to take them into account when moving to or from the airport, and especially if we go by public transport.
 
 1- To the airport - It is convenient to leave with a little more anticipation than what is commonly suggested. If you choose a taxi or a private car service, always take into account peak traffic times, demonstrations, strikes or events that may delay the journey to the airport from where you are. It is always good to be informed about what is happening.
 
If you contract a shared transfer service, have a contact telephone number handy in case of any delay by the company. In these cases they usually already have a scheduled collection time.
 
If you use public transport (collective, train) take into account the schedules (weekends and holidays tend to have less frequency), if you have to change and also how to board (if you need a card or paying the driver or motorist at the moment ). These are details that seem obvious, but it is advisable to know so as not to have surprises and suffer a delay that could cause complications.
 
If you rent a car to get to the airport, check where to leave the vehicle. At some airports, there is an exclusive parking lot for rental cars.
 
 2 -From the airport- Here it is a little less stressful since you don't have the pressure of missing your flight. In the worst case, you will arrive later at the place where you are going to stay or at the meeting point where you are trying to arrive.
 
Once you leave the plane, look for your suitcase and finish with the arrival procedures that are required. Then, follow the directions for public transportation or ask the airport staff.
 
It is very useful to find out in advance the schedules of the buses or trains in case you arrive late at night. Not all work 24 hours. The same goes for taxis. In case of using an Uber-type service, have the mobile application handy to contact the driver.
 
On the other hand, if you booked a private transport service, it is likely that they will have a person waiting for you, identified with a sign. If you rent a car to go from the airport to your final destination, for greater peace of mind it is advisable to book it in advance. Rental counters are usually available in the arrivals hall.
